Daniel Sanchez
Daniel was born in Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz Island) in the Galápagos Archipelago. He grew up in Santa Rosa, a little village up in the highlands of Santa Cruz, where his father has a cattle farm. He and his two brothers and little sister rode horses to the primary school in the area. When it was time for them to go to high school the family moved to the lowlands and the larger town of Puerto Ayora.
His uncle has a small tourism boat, and on board this vessel Daniel got the chance to explore the archipelago and learned to love the islands with their unique flora and fauna. While growing up his hobbies were swimming, fishing, and diving for a few lobsters. When he turned 18 he went to Guayaquil for college, to study marine biology. After a couple of years there, despite the fun he was having playing for a soccer team on the mainland, Daniel decided to return to Galápagos. He took the course at the National Park to become a naturalist and re-entered the University to study tourism. In addition to his work as a Naturalist, Daniel plans to do some farming, as his family did. He has already purchased some land in the highlands and looks after his cattle during his free days on the island.
