Liberty Miller
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Liberty grew up with a strong love of nature, the ocean in particular. After studying photography and journalism in college, she worked as a corporate photographer in the Seattle area for many years, until finally breaking away at the age of 29 and becoming a seasonal outdoor guide. She has spent the majority of her time working in Alaska and Washington State as a kayak and hiking guide, kayak instructor, and a deckhand naturalist.
She has lived overseas working as a Foreign Correspondent for a marine conservation non-profit and has played an integral role in forming several start-up NGO’s with a focus on protecting the oceans. She has been involved in the making of many documentaries and has organized fundraising events around the globe to raise awareness for the plight of the oceans.
As a kayak and hiking guide, Liberty has roamed the state of Alaska, specifically Southeast Alaska, and has taken visitors kayaking with whales and hiking with grizzlies deep in the heart of the 49th State. Fostering a passion for the wild and magnificent state, Liberty enjoys sharing her knowledge and love for Alaska with others.
During the winters Liberty can be found in Seattle doing boat maintenance at a shipyard, where she specializes in brightwork and painting. She is also a freelance writer and blogger and has recently published her first book, a memoir.
