12,400 land based animal species have (metaphorically) called Cuba home, and about 42% of them endemic. Cuba is really an archipelago with more than 1600 isolated keys.

Pigs were introduced to Cuba in 1493 by Columbus, were later harvested and sold to traders as bucan (think “bacon”) and those who sold the bucon in the Bay of Pigs were coined Bucaneers. Today we visit this beautiful bay, both the natural and modern cultural sides.
