The sun was about to rise as we were getting ready for our “early bird cruise” in the inflatable boats at Bona Island. Our enthusiastic guests got all excited about this great day that was starting in an amazing way.
During our cruise, some got the chance to see something unique – a blue-footed booby doing his courtship dance. So far there is no known nesting site on this Island so this behavior is extremely rare to see.
Time to go back aboard National Geographic Sea Lion for a repositioning; our second destination of the day was going to be Iguana Island. During our navigation we spotted a small group of Bryde’s whales.
It was around 4 p.m. when we arrived at Iguana Island; swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and a short walk to watch the magnificent frigatebirds’ nesting site were the amazing activities planned by our expedition leader for this gorgeous island located in the Gulf of Panama.
Geography, geology and ornithology were some of the most important topics to cover during the walks with our team of naturalists. At the end of the day a beautiful sunset announced to us that it was time to go back on board National Geographic Sea Lion or, as I like to call it, our home sweet home.
