It is the third day of our voyage and we continue to move around the Galapagos Islands following in Darwin`s footsteps.

What a morning! We started with our activities quite early with a walk. Cormorant Point has one of the few beaches in the Galapagos where the amount of magnesium crystals is so concentrated it forms a green sandy beach. Sea lions usually welcome us, so “early in the morning” does not sound bad at all. Behind the landing site there is a trail which guides to a lagoon, offering views of some greater flamingos. They are amazing pink birds, so elegant that it makes us humans look like jokes! Later we continued to a sea turtle nesting beach, covered by big depressions that contain hundreds of eggs laid in the peak of the breeding season.

Now, back onboard the National Geographic Endeavour and well fed, we started to decide on our options. Glass bottom boat rides were available, as well as Zodiac rides or a snorkeling opportunity (a highlight!). Champion Islet, which is the place for all of these activities, has an extraordinary population of all kinds of beautiful and colorful tropical fish, sea lions, turtles and sharks.

Floreana is also the first island to be colonized by the Ecuadorian government after becoming a country, so there is a lot of human history surrounding Post Office Bay. It was the first mailing system in the eastern Pacific Ocean and is still in use by the tourists passing through. Several guests had the lucky chance to hand deliver some of the mail found today.

It was an excellent day we all spent on Floreana, natural and human history connected in the very same moment.
