Espanola Island
Today's visit took place on the island of Espanola, which is the oldest one in the Galapagos archipelago. We spent the whole day here and visited two different locations; Punta Suarez and Gardner Bay.
The morning was fantastic, we saw: marine iguanas sun bathing, sea lions all over the place, blue footed boobies courting, some others with chicks. It was a very successful outing.
In the afternoon we focussed on water activities and our guests had a lot of fun exploring the rich Galapagos marine ecosystem. Others decided to just relax on the long sandy beach, together with the Galapagos sea lions.
Sea lions are without doubt the stars of the islands, wherever we go they are part of the welcome committee. They are attractive and endearing, but also lazy as they lie on the beaches soaking up the sun and replenishing their oxygen.
