Santa Cruz Island

Good friends of ours, the Galapagos giant tortoises, enjoy the green and fleshy vegetation of the highlands of Santa Cruz.

Today our photographers had plenty of quiet time to enjoy the splendor of these ancient creatures. Our photo Expedition Leader, Ralph Hopkins, briefed us about the different techniques and tips for today’s pictures. He said, today we did not need a high-speed motor drive for capturing moving tortoises.

We also had a few familiar faces among us on the Polaris, Michael and Roberta McNally. This is their third time on board our ship, and we are very glad to see them again. The first time they traveled on one of our regular cruises. The second time they came on one of our family trips with their granddaughters, and this week they are with our Photo Expedition.

When I asked Michael about what brought him back for the third time, he replied: “I came back because it is the most wonderful place on this planet. There is nothing like the Galapagos.”
