The day started off as an ordinary one with our steep climb to the spectacular view of Pinnacle Rock. It was when we walked over to the other beach after breakfast that the highlight of our day occurred.

We arrived to the sound of Galapagos Hawks. Upon inspection, we saw that a hawk had downed a frigate bird and was tearing it to bits in the presence of two other hawks. Many of the group thought that it served the frigate right and didn’t show too much sympathy, but got their camera’s out instead! A juvenile hawk entertained us for hours by chasing crabs, walking among us and hovering above our heads. There was no excuse for not getting the photo of our dreams as we were faced with the perfect situation for a wildlife photographer. Fuji and Kodak were happy!

The day provided a sunny afternoon for our walk among the marine iguanas, crabs and herons on James Island. After a sunset behind Alcedo volcano, our farewell cocktail was accompanied by a fantastic joint collection of digital photos from the week.
