Floreana Island
Our day started very early in the morning with an outing to the famous historical Post Office Bay. We talked about the human history of the islands, and afterwards we took a Zodiac ride along the coast. The water was crystal clear and we spotted several green Pacific turtles, a big school of stingrays and some Galapagos penguins. Some sea lions and sea turtles were mating.
Later in the morning most of us went to snorkel around Champion Island. We all had a terrific time, especially when swimming with sharks and the always playful sea lions. In the afternoon we went for a walk to Punta Cormorant. The highlight of this remote and interesting place were the Greater flamingos! We observed a group of at least 25 in a very picturesque lagoon. Some of them were quite close to us. Our guests were really impressed with their beautiful pink color. At this time of the year they are starting their courtship display, and we were lucky enough to see some of them performing. It was truly a wonderful experience to witness this fascinating behavior.
