Cerro Dragon and Venice Islets
Polaris had its usual calm conditions to anchor at Cerro Dragon today. Kayakers profited from these conditions as well, paddling through Venecia Channel, spotting turtles, little sharks and rays in the water. No land iguanas were sighted this time on the islet. Dinghy riders explored the same area.
The snorkeling before noon at Guy Fawkes had good visibility: sea turtles, playful sea-lions, a big manta ray and all the fish the place has. On the way to the rocks we saw flocks of Noddy terns and Galápagos Shearwaters following schools of small tuna that chase the fry to the surface.
In the afternoon the sun came out, kayakers as well as hikers enjoyed a warm excursion. Three flamingos, two phalaropes, five least sandpipers, one duck and two common stilts were seen in the brackish water lagoon. Land iguanas were mostly found sitting in the shade. At the end of the day with a beautiful sunset we circumnavigated Daphne Island.
