Bartolome and Santiago Islands

It is sad to realise that a trip is ending, that in a few hours we’ll fly home leaving a magical place behind, and who knows for how long. Some may come back, some may not, but I am sure everyone will keep Galápagos in their hearts.

It is not only what we saw and learned, but also the friendships we have made on board. The magic of these islands has connected us all, as if being part of a secret fraternity of some sort.

We had an amazing farewell day, starting with Bartolome and its surrounding waters, rich in beautiful and extravagant marine life: penguins together with sea lions and sea stars. We had conquered the highest elevation of Bartolome earlier in the morning for the enjoinment of “The Pinnacle” under the first sunrays.

In the afternoon we could say that our path took us through the week. Everybody recognized the species along the way, and Santiago had them all, from sea lions to fur sea lions, from shorebirds to Galápagos mockingbirds, from prickly pear cactus to holy trees.

This is an island that gives us so much pride, as every conservation program carried on here happens thanks to the support of Lindblad and our guests.

What can be better than the feeling of having given back after taking so little, only pictures and wonderful memories. We go home rich in experiences and feelings and we have established a lasting link with this enchanted place, the Galápagos.
