Española Island

Today is our first full day in the Galápagos Islands. We started at 8 o’clock at Punta Suarez, one of the most remarkable places in the entire archipelago with a very high degree of endemism; the species found are unique of this island in particular, such as: Hood mocking bird, Hood lava lizard, marine iguanas, just to mention some of them. Our guests enjoyed a lot watching Nazca and blue-footed boobies with their chicks, Galápagos hawks, Galápagos doves and Darwin’s finches. As soon as the sun rose up higher the temperature increased, hopefully there was a nice cool breeze and for an instant while it cooled off along the cliff.

At noon we enjoyed an Ecuadorian lunch, many dishes from the three regions of Ecuador. Then we took a pleasant siesta, in order to recuperate our energy lost in the morning.

In the afternoon, we had lots of choices, such as: glass bottom boat, deep water snorkeling, kayaks, and beach. After all the other options, many went to relax on the beautiful organic white sandy beach, shared by many sea lions. A big male was patrolling his colony along the beach, showing off his strong and big body.

We came back aboard and watched sunset from the teak deck. It was a lovely day!
