Galapagos is a place to discover. It is a place where you can let your imagination fly at a limitless speed. That is what happens to all who have the privilege to live, work or just visit a place like this. The fearlessness of the animals, combined with the peacefulness of the environment, makes this trip one of a kind. Today, while visiting Floreana Island, we had the luck of seeing part of the Galapagos geology. Technically, the Galapagos are oceanic islands. They were produced by volcanic activity and have never been part of the mainland. They are actually the tops of mountains that rose from the ocean floor and broke the surface less than five million years ago.
We spent part of our morning searching for the Floreana mockingbird, Nesomimus trifasciatus, which is considered one of the rarest birds in the whole archipelago.
