Boca de Solede

Gray whales were the goal of our morning activities. Starting with a sunrise Zodiac ride, we spent a few hours observing the gray whales at the Boca de Soledad of Magdalena Bay. There was a lot of whale activity and we observed many interesting behaviors. Mothers with their newborns frequently spyhopped or blew blasts of bubbles near the surface. Babies rolled and played along side their mothers, and we saw a whale breach several times. Conditions for whale watching were excellent with calm seas, no wind and bright sunny weather. Later in the day we enjoyed a barbecue lunch on deck as we headed out of Magdalena Bay. During our transit of the bay we had plenty of time to think about all of our encounters with the whales, birds and good people we visited from Puerto Lopez Mateos. Hopefully a little of the magic of Baja California seeped into our souls
