Granito de Oro and Coiba Island, Panama

Last night we cruised towards the fourth biggest marine national park of the world, Coiba, where we spent all of our day. Early in the morning we disembarked at a tiny island called Granito de Oro, or Grain of Gold. Here we had a chance to snorkel, kayak, swim, relax on the beach or even enjoy a relaxing back massage.

As guests took off their masks after exploring the reefs around this little piece of paradise, we started to identify species. Moorish idol, Cortez rainbow wrasse, Jewel moray, Trumpet fish, White-tipped reef sharks and the elusive Hawks-billed turtle.

After our morning activities, we repositioned the Sea Voyager to the ranger station to enjoy a wonderful barbecue lunch prepared by the galley. While some locals played some soccer, there were too many activities to choose from, more snorkeling, kayaking, walking around the grounds, bird watching or just relaxing. Red-legged honeycreepers, Yellow headed caracaras, Wimbrels, and many other species.

The sunset accompanied us as we finished our Panamanian part of the voyage and start fresh in the morning in the neighboring Costa Rica!
