This is our last day exploring the greatest of all tropical forests, the largest body of fresh water on the planet and the most bio diverse region. This morning we woke up with the sounds of the large billed terns fishing close to the Delfín II as we were anchored at Supay Creek.
Our expedition began in the early hours with a beautiful fog that embraced the forest and at the same time there was a little sunshine through the clouds. It was a beautiful combination of a cloud forest and sunshine on the river. This place if part river with forest on the sides and part swamp. This combination attracts all sorts of creatures from birds to mammals.
Our second part of the day was spent exploring Flor de Castaña Flooded forest for bird watching and landscape. This forest is dead due to recent changes n the places, long time ago it used to be dry land but the ever changing river has got closer and flooded the place this time permanently. Trees can live submerged for a number of months but not for years as it is happening here. The forest is dead but it is not bad, dead trees are rather an opportunity for many types of birds for nesting and displaying. This is a meeting point for vultures, parrots, wood peckers caciques, tanagers and many others!
