Española
Today was an excellent day, the water temperature was 72 degrees F (bath-water for some, a bit chilly for others!), soft winds, skies cloudy with mild openings and sun rays here and there (more there than here) and a special something in the air.
This afternoon we landed on Gardner Bay, site of great beauty and wonder, if we are to read old descriptions of Galapagos voyagers. We saw it for ourselves and confirmed the descriptions. We spent several hours there, but still it seemed too short. The coralline white beach has all the requirements to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth: wildlife, turquoise waters and volcanic landscape, not to mention amazing snorkeling and knowledgeable naturalists. The photography party travelling with us this week breathlessly used up roll after roll, whilst our natural history party could believe neither eyes nor ears as their Naturalists regaled them with fascinating tidbits about everything that surrounded them. At the end of such incredible afternoon mockingbirds were asking us to stay just a little bit longer, and we would have loved to, were it not for the strict regulations of the Galapagos National Park, which require us to abandon this magical place at sundown.
