Manuel Antonio National Park
Today was the perfect ending for our expedition on board the Sea Voyager. After an early wake up call; we had a hearty breakfast to build up the necessary energy for the day ahead of us. At 8:00am the Zodiacs started to take our guest ashore to visit Manuel Antonio National Park, the second smallest park in Costa Rica, but also one of the most visited protected areas of the country due to its prolific wildlife and beautiful white sand beaches.
During our walks today, the forest was very generous to us, we were able to spot the two species of sloth in Costa Rica (two & three toed), three species of monkeys (squirrel, howler and white faced), white nosed coatis, long nosed bats, and much more. After our walks, the guest returned to the white sand beach to swim in the warm aqua-green waters of the Pacific Ocean. Once back aboard of the Sea Voyager, we had a delicious lunch at the bar lounge (upper deck) from where we enjoyed a magnificent view of the sky blue ocean and the dark green park.
Around 14:00 we lifted anchor and started sailing towards the Herradura Bay looking for marine life; in the afternoon, we had the opportunity to enjoy a very interesting presentation on Biodiversity by our guest speaker, Dr. Jonathan Coddington from the Smithsonian Institute. Later in the afternoon we met at the bar for cocktails and to view the “photo gallery” organized by our Expedition Leader. A slide show of the pictures taken throughout our trip by the naturalists and a guest. At sunset, our Captain, Fernando Ramos, joined us for a toast and to wish us a safe trip back home. Cheers, until our next voyage together.
